Today we’d like to introduce you to Rianka Dorsainvil.
Hi Rianka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story? In college, I had no idea that financial planning was a profession. After bouncing around among a few different majors, I knew that I had a love for math and talking to people. I took one elective personal finance class and it blew my mind. That’s when I started learning about credit scores and how they are derived, disability insurance, retirement planning, and Social Security. I became so excited and went to my professor to see if I could take more classes, only to find out that there was an entire curriculum dedicated to becoming a CFP® professional.
I’m the type of person who if I learn something and I feel like it’s going to help others, I’m going to share it. Even in college, I became the go-to person on campus for financial questions and helped my classmates understand the financial implications of their actions. Since then, I decided that my generation is going to be educated when it comes to personal finance. And I know I can’t help everybody, but for those I can help, I will.
I left Corporate America in 2015 to launch my firm, Your Greatest Contribution, and then merged with my business partner and co-CEO, Lazetta Braxton, in 2020 to form 2050 Wealth Partners.
As the co-CEO and one of the Lead Financial Planners at 2050 Wealth Partners, I focus on empowering entrepreneurs and first-generation wealth builders to own their money story and pursue their biggest dreams. I believe the first-generation wealth-builders are a community that has been underserved by the financial planning profession for too long – and I am here to help change the tides.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth, however, I believe with every test, there is a testimony. I started my financial planning firm with zero clients. Imposter Syndrome certainly kicked and I did not let that stop me. Within the first week of virtually opening my firm doors, I had my first client.
